Carrie McCann is an educator, death & grief companion, community herbalist & gardener, and wellness consultant with 15 years of experience in supporting people through life’s big transitions and changes. She is passionate about helping people experience more moments of care and connection, especially in challenging times, and explores the many ways this can look through her work as the founder of Moonset & Co.

Education & Background

Carrie has a background in social work and program management. After obtaining her Masters of Social Work, she worked in both direct client care and in program creation and coordination roles. Through this work she has offered training & professional development across the country, scaled programs from helping fewer than 100 clients per year to 1000+ clients per year, and helped teams grow beyond one to two people through research and implementation of program improvement strategies and increasing funding opportunities.  These experiences led her to realize her love and talent for supporting people and organizations in bringing their mission and vision to life.

Wellness

Through her own personal health journey, Carrie eventually found her way to the wellness field. She took a 200-hour, anti-racism, yoga teacher training through YogaRoots On Location, which grew her trauma-conscious and community care practices. Shortly after, she completed her certification in Integrative Health Coaching and began a wellness consulting practice. In February of 2020, she woke up to her calling of revolutionizing the way we greet and care for our dying and grieving community members and founded Moonset & Co. a few months later. She began working on an herb farm that same year, which led her to explore the connections between plants and people further. Carrie got her End of Life Doula certification through Going with Grace in 2020 and has taken several other death care professional education since.

Currently, Carrie is in the process of completing her certificate in Horticultural Therapy and expanding her education in the ways nature-based and gardening activities can be used therapeutically for caregivers and people who are grieving or dying.  Carrie is a lifelong learner and loves to create learning and sharing spaces that are nurturing, inspiring, playful, and invite ease, especially around topics that challenge us.
